The 1st Essex and Middlesex district includes 19 communities across the North Shore and Merrimack Valley of Massachusetts. The district includes the cities of Newburyport and Gloucester, and the towns of: Boxford, Essex, Georgetown, Groveland, Hamilton, Ipswich, Manchester-by-the-Sea, Middleton, Newbury, North Reading, Rockport, Rowley, Salisbury, Topsfield, Wenham, West Newbury, and precincts 5A, 7, and 8 of North Andover.
